They were really great sports about it all and just rolled with the punches. Luckily by the time we were done shooting, AMA had arrived to let them back into their car! This couple is so in love and thrilled about their upcoming wedding! They are going to make a gorgeous bride and groom! Maternity Self Portraits

So my husband and I are expecting, and I decided to take on a little photography/mom-to-be project. I'm taking self portraits in the mirror (which is harder than I thought to shoot hand held with my heavy camera!) each week to track my belly progress. For those of you who haven't done self portraits, go for it! If you have a tripod and timer/ remote it might make it easier, but it's a fun challenge!

Calgary weather can be so unpredictable, and change from one moment to the next. Luckily for us, the weather was not too cold for a November shoot!. We ventured to Glennfield at Fish Creek Park for a winter mother/son shoot.

I love this family, they are so sweet! Chantel is such a beautiful woman and her little lad Ashton is a cute little gentleman. He was a little camera shy at first but once he found a mini pumpkin and spotted bunnies I think he forgot the camera was even there. They had fun decorating a tree and having a little snow ball fight too!. I loved photographing them and their special bond as mother and son!

Photo Shoot Locations

Hi fellow photogs!
I spent some time in Inglewood a few months ago, scouting out photo shoot location. Inglewood is a great little district with loads of character. You've got the rail yards, old run down buildings, trendy shops, industrial buildings...

I did a few shots through my window (my husband was driving) of spots I'd like to do shoots. My husband also took me to a couple of nearby locations that might be really cool for photos. He works on rooftops so he gets a great view and can spot places I'd never find just driving or walking by!. The graffiti location is a perfect example of this. I would have never seen it! On the way home we drove by chinook mall and spotted the Tiffany & Co advertisement so i snapped a quick pic. I think it would be a cute backdrop for an engagement shoot. The last one is near Mount Royal Village/17th ave on the side of the "beadles" store!

Here's a few locations that caught my eye. Lee even did a little modelling for me, albeit begrudgingly!

I love old photo frames, so when I recently inherited a large quantity of gold and wood frames, I got all jazzed up about photo shoot ideas. Parents holding one to frame their children, an engaged couple kissing behind a frame, frames hanging from trees for outdoor shoots, fun prop for photobooth style photos! Why You Should Always Have Your Camera Handy

There's been many times when I wish I had my camera with me. Not this time though, I was prepared!. I just got back from a little vacation in Maui and while there we went for a drive to check out potential surf spots. We were driving down this narrow windy road and my 4 year old niece spotted a red convertible driving in front of us. Did I mention she LOVES convertibles?

We were following behind this convertible until it pulled off the side of the road. As we passed by, my husband and I looked at each other and said "was that Steven Tyler!!!???"

So naturally we pulled off to the side of the road to see if he would pull back onto the road and pass us. He did. We were certain it was him, so we were total creepers and followed him for a bit. Not in a creepy stalker way, we were more or less continuing on our original path...but with more of a mission this time.

The convertible turned off the road somewhere up ahead and started heading back the other way. As the vehicle drove past us the man driving (so obviously Steven Tyler) placed his hand over the lower half of his face in the hopes of maybe not being recognised. But let's be real here- he has crazy hair, a crazy face and was wearing a bright yellow tshirt driving a red convertible with the top down...it's not exactly like he was incognito.

So we drove to the end of the road and turned around. Yes, because we wanted to see if it actually was him, but also because there wasn't anything really else to see down the road. We thought we may have lost him...all the while making up grand stories of where he may be staying. What fancy place, who with.....then started speculating why he was all by him self (probably because he's with people all day, right?) was he lost? we really are creepers.

Then we actually caught up to the red convertible. He was pulling over to the side of the road near a street vendor. I think they were selling necklaces or pineapples or something. So we drove by really slowly, and I grabbed my camera (everyone gives me a hard time about carrying it up front with me instead of putting it in the trunk, because it's so bulky....see you guys! there's always a reason!) and took a few shots of him through the window as we kept driving. Not the best quality photos, but it's definitely Steven Tyler. We probably could have gotten out and met him and got better photos with him, but I guess we felt shy or maybe like we should respect his space. All we wanted was the confirmation it was actually him. It made my day to see someone famous, and get a photo too!

So there you go, always have your camera ready fellow photog's!

I've had the pleasure of taking photographs of this beautiful momma, Roopa, during her pregnancy, newborn photos and now family photos. I love when I am able to photograph people through various stages in their lives, its truly an honor.

On a beautiful fall day we set out to take some photos at Glenmore Park. We scaled the rocks down to the water (Roopa was such a good sport in her high heels!) where we did some photos of this beautiful family! Little Samara was all smiles and is very photogenic just like her mom! Bryan was a natural in front of the camera too- we bugged him about being Zoolander. Blue steel! Have I mentioned how much I love photographing newborns? Well, I do! Sweet little Georgia Mae was just 5 days old when I did her newborn session. I had done her mother, Crystal's, maternity photos and I was really looking forward to meeting this new beautiful life. Crystal has 2 boys, so being pregnant with a little girl was really exciting for Crystal. Georgia Mae is such a sweet baby. So easy going and precious! So lucky to photograph her. Family: The G. Family :: Calgary Family Photographer

I have had the pleasure of first meeting Crystal when I did her Maternity photos a little while back. Since then I have photographed little miss Georgia Mae when she was just 5 days old, and just recently I did family photos with the whole gang. Their 2 little boys are full of energy splashing through the rain puddles, and little Georgia Mae stole the show with her little pink outfit and lovable smile. Crystal and Justin are so in love and it's so wonderful to see that kind of love in a family.

We had planned on going to Fish Creek Park but (wait for it...) they misplaced their car keys! I've done this myself a few times so I definitely empathize with them. They didn't get stressed out, or upset, they handled themselves so well and rolled with the punches in a frustrating situation we've all been in, and suggested we go to a near by park. So we all walked down the street together and had a blast taking photos close to home. This neighbourhood park will probably be a special place in these kids hearts as they grow up, and it's nice that we were able to capture some of the memories here. Photography Props: Faux Wood Floor

Hey Fellow Photogs! I've always got my eyes peeled for photography props, so naturally I like to browse around Michaels Craft Store. I stumbled upon this roll of paper that someone left in a shopping cart that looked like old wood. I thought it might be a cool item to test out as a backdrop or flooring, so I picked it up on the cheap! Nothing better than that! I did a little research online to see what other photographers use as wood flooring, and it looks like quite a few have discovered Michaels "Weathered Wood" paper too. Apparently it can be found in the Teachers section of the store. People have also posted suggestions to purchase laminate from hardware stores for a more solid option. I may have to try that out, but for now I'll stick with my paper flooring. It's great if you want an antique type feel, or just want light colored wood flooring. It's easy to transport and it only cost about $7 for a huge roll!

Photography Props: DIY Large Flower Headband

There are lots of fabulous headbands on Etsy, but if you are a DIY-er or you are just looking to spend less, here's a few tips!

I went to Carters and picked up a set of 3 newborn headbands for about $4. They come in a few different colors. I had a few large flower hair clips/clothing clips at home that I had purchased from H & M for about $2, but I've also seen large inexpensive flower clips at the Loonie store or Walmart . They already have a clip on them, so you can just attach the large flower to the headbands. The headbands are really adorable on their own, but if you want to kick it up a notch in your newborn or child photography, just add the large flower and you've got a great statement piece on the cheap! If you are concerned about the clip rubbing against the newborns head, you can add a little felt piece or even a cotton ball on the part of the clip that touches their head.

I love maternity shoots. I love that pregnancy "glow" and the excitement in a momma-to-be's eyes! Crystal was the definition of a glowing expectant mother and i was so thrilled to photograph her. We decided to take some photos at the arches and then make our way to Fish Creek Park. Crystal is a dream to photograph! She is so beautiful and natural in front of the lens- very photogenic!. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this little sweetie pie, what a perfect little lad! I did some maternity photos with his beautiful mom, Anna, so it was really exciting to finally meet him.

Little Oliver is all smiles! He is probably the most smiley baby I have ever seen! I set up near the big gorgeous windows to let in lots of natural light. Babies just look so fantastic in natural light. Soft skin and big bright eyes! Little Ollie was so good for the camera, and even took a little nap so we could capture him looking so peaceful. I'm always on the lookout for photography props, especially ones for my newborn shoots. I don't have any children, but I'm sure people think I do based on my shopping!

I was looking for a stork pouch prop and found a wonderful seller, Renee from "FromHands2Hearts" that makes these wonderful items. She made a beautiful earth color hanging stork pouch that I just love using in my newborn shoots. I couldn't help myself, and ordered a newborn boy hemp/beige color diaper cover & matching hat. I was so truly honored to be the event photographer for the 2nd Annual Nicole Jennifer Creig Foundation Golf Tournament. This year, though a combination of Direct Donations, the Silent Auction, Mulligan Draw, Putting Competition and Entry fees, over $7,000 was raised for the Nicole Jennifer Creig Foundation Legacy Foundation with a significant portion to be donated to the Hayati Children’s Foundation as the recipient charity this year.

The weather was amazing, and it was so touching to see the way people come together to support a good cause. Here are a few photos from the event.

This session was taken just a few months after we did newborn photos. Yes, that's right, newborn (check out my blog post "Newborns: Beautiful Baby S" if you dont believe me!!!). This stunning momma looks so amazing after having a baby...that women everywhere would hate her if she wasn't such a sweet person :) Roopa and I decided to do an edgy shoot on some nearby railroad tracks out of town. By the end of the shoot we were both covered in dirt from the tracks, and even gained a spectator!

Photography Prop: Wrapping Paper Backdrop

I found a bunch of really funky and inexpensive wrapping paper at Michaels Craft Store and Chapters, and decided to test them out as backdrops. Most of it works pretty well for head shots or as a backdrop for newborns/babies since they are so small. The only downfall is that some wrapping paper is really shiny, so the light reflects on it but if you play around with your settings it may just do what you are looking for. Take a peek at some of my cheap & easy DIY wrapping paper backdrop trials!

My name is George. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents. Ok,ok, that's not me. Anyone who knows me though, knows I love a good seinfeld reference.

That being said, I'm Tiffany Szigety of Postcard & Willow Photography and thanks for stopping by my blog. I've always had an interest in photography, but it wasn't until January 2011, when I bought my first DSLR camera, that I truly tapped into my passion for it. This blog will follow me on my photography journey and is for my fans, clients and fellow photographers. I'll post some photos from my sessions, tips or tricks I've learned along the way, and my photography "finds" to share with you.

A few random things about me, you know, for good measure:
-I crave sushi everyday
-I am an extreme hula hooper, and maker of hula hoops
-I had a record deal when I was 18years old with a canadian music record label in Vancouver. Clearly I didn't get my big break, but I have cd and some really great experiences
-I treat myself to fresh flowers for my home when i go grocery shopping. I just feel it breaths life into my space.
-I have a social work diploma and work with sexually exploited youth in a residential setting
-I can't stand newspaper (the sight, smell, touch...)
-I love prank shows
-I love interior design/decorating
-I'm Portuguese, Danish & French
-I love Etsy & Pinterest with all my heart
-I don't know how to do things like properly sync my iPod to my computer and it makes me feel really old.
